My little family is finally back together and back in Las Vegas, and now it's time to get updated on this blog! First things first: a look back at Matty's birthday party!
Well, it's come and gone: Jonathan and I successfully executed our son's first birthday party. We were able to have it back home on the farm with our families and close friends in tow, the way we had wanted to since MJ was first born. Here's a look at some of the highlights.
Even though he wouldn't remember it, I didn't want MJ to have a "store bought" birthday so, against all better judgment, I decided to make everything. It was a bigger task than I originally thought, but it was very much a labor of love.
Here's a close-up of the cake. Again, I didn't want him to have a "store bought" cake so I had this specially made by a good friend of mine who did an absolutely AMAZING job.
A hodge-podge of chairs completed the sitting area ;)
Gift "bar," complete with 12-month picture banner, party favors, and a place to sign a picture frame mat, wishing MJ a happy birthday.
Cake time! He approached it very cautiously, but ended up liking it.

Completely exhausted and ready for a much-needed nap.
Thank you to everyone who came out, helped, or simply sent well wishes. It all combined to make an amazing first birthday party for our special boy!
