More Rainy Days

Another rainy, gloomy day in Korea. The constant downpour makes me antsy and depressed, so I figured I'd share some sunshine with you all (at least, its sunshine to me): new sewing projects! :) My latest was a fabric covering for my commissary bag. Now, I'm all about going green . . . but really, do you have to be ugly about it? I still wanted the strength of the original material so I decided to just COVER it with something a little prettier. Here's the before picture:

And here is the after picture:

I've got more fabric in this same color scheme so I can cover another one of our bags. Since we have four of them, I promised Jonathan I'd leave two alone so he wouldn't have to look "girly" every time he went and got groceries. :)

Hope you're all having a fantastic week!

Wiener Dogs Get No Love

I've been enjoying seeing pictures of all the doggies from the Westminster Show. But, of course, it got me thinking and then got me googling, and you know what I discovered: a dachshund has NEVER won the Westminster "Best of Show" title. Ever. Jonathan and I decided we needed to enter Oskar into competition. However, upon finding him like this:

we decided that that just getting him off the COUCH would be hard enough. So we'll just keep the wiener dog love to ourselves :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

This past weekend I was able to drag Jonathan (kicking and screaming) away from the squadron and up to Seoul for a "romantic" weekend. We stayed at the Dragon Hill Lodge, the U.S. Army hotel in Seoul, and up-graded to a suite, complete with a jacuzzi tub, rose petals, and complimentary champagne. So, okay, it wasn't a Hilton but, for Korea, it was really nice.

This is the exterior of the Dragon Hill Lodge, located right smack in the middle of Seoul. Perfect.

As soon as we opened the door to our suite, we saw rose-petals :)

Complementary champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries (which only Jonathan got to enjoy)

The view from our window. Again, its still Korea, but at least we got a view of the mountains instead of smoggy, down-town Seoul. . .

Our rose-petal covered sheets and fuzzy robes :)

Relaxing in our suite. . .

We had a very nice, relaxing night and we were all prepared to go out and explore Seoul the next morning . . . however, upon arriving in Itaewon, we soon discovered that EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING) was closed. Who knew the Lunar New Year was such a huge deal? I mean, it was nice that the streets were deserted (when its normally walking elbow to elbow with people), but we had no idea that EVERYTHING would be closed. Oh well. . . at least I was able to pull Jonathan out of work for 24 hours. . . maybe next time I'll try for 48 ;)

Rainy Days. . .

It's been a dreary couple of days here in Korea. Just a constant mist . . . enough to make everything wet and muddy. On top of that, its foggy, foggy, foggy. The fog here doesn't lift around mid-morning like it does back home. Here, it sticks around all day. So what to do on a day like that? Jonathan and I decided to take pictures of Oskar (of course.) Enjoy! :)

Awww....how can you not love this little face?

Waiting patiently for Jonathan to take his hand off the ball . . .

Oskar in his "head down" pose. This is a warning that he will grab the ball if you try to take it from him.

I love this picture. This is Oskar's "play with me" pose. You can tell his little tail is wagging. :)

Many people have asked how Oskar chewed a hole in our couch. THIS is how. His new favorite game is to "accidentally" knock the ball underneath the furniture and then "dig" it back out. And, when he can't dig it out (which is 99% of the time), he will CHEW it out. This is NOT a fun game.

Why he insists on laying like this, I will never know. But you can tell by his one big eye that he was tired of getting his picture taken by this point.

Hope you all are having a fantastic week! :)
