A Lazy Saturday

Greetings, everyone! You know, I never realized how boring we really were until I started this blog . . . there really has been nothing new to talk about! I promise that we will do something fun and interesting real soon (if I can get Jonathan away from the squadron, that is). Until then, enjoy pics of Oskar (because I know that's what you all want to see)!

I really have no idea what these Korean dog treats are, but Oskar loves them. I just pray he's not eating another dog . . .

These are his absolute favorite . . . I think maybe they are vegetable-based, but really, I have no idea. Whatever Oskar wants, he gets. ;)

This picture is just precious. We watched Meg, Oskar's girlfriend for a few days while Nicole and Tim went skiing. It's hard to tell, but they were actually holding hands here, both sleeping on Jonathan's lap.

Oskar's newest thing is sitting on the back of our couch and looking out the window. He used to have places in our house in Germany where he could sit and stare for hours. However, he seems to have just figured out a place to do that here. Who knew when we bought a wiener dog that he would actually be part cat?

Well, at least we know that if North Korea attacks, Oskar will let us know. Here he is watching out for those commie bastards.

Have a great weekend everyone!

So I'm getting bad at this already . . .

So I'm starting to get bad at up-dating already, and its not even February yet! So okay . . . what's new with the Woogies? Let's see . . . Jonathan is still flying his butt off. As I'm typing this, he is STILL at work, flying nights every single night this week. He's staying busy busy, and he complains a LOT, but we all know he loves his job and wouldn't want to do anything else. With some of the squadron being gone on TDY's and such, he has taken over as a flight commander, and he is doing an AMAZING job at it. I'm so proud of him!

As for me, I was recently elected to the board of the Osan chapter of PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel) which has been keeping me super busy. We recently held our spring kick-off, and we can now boast over 50 ladies! Crazy! I started a new bible study, Beth Moore's "Breaking Free," and I am so excited about it. I've wanted to do it for a few years now, and she recently up-dated it with all new lessons and videos, so I'm interested to see what the next few weeks have in store for me. I'm still teaching AWANA on Wednesday nights and still working diligently on my writing. One of these days--ONE OF THESE DAYS--it will pay off. (At least, that's what I keep telling myself!)

We're really enjoying our time here in Korea. We've made some fantastic friends. Below are some pics taken recently at a "Hail and Farewell." It's a tradition for all of the wives to get a "party suit." (The guys have them too, but they are not in skirt form . . . although maybe I should bring that up. Could be entertaining?) These women are all AMAZING and some of my best friends. Thought you'd all like to see some of the ladies I talk about all the time.

PS. "Party hair" is also a tradition (as you can tell from the pics). I haven't quite gotten brave enough to get any, but you can see that some of the ladies go all out. :)

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week!

Little Suzy Home-Maker

One of my best friends here in Korea is amazingly crafty . . . and she's definitely given the bug to me. So, for Christmas, Jonathan was sweet enough to get me my very own sewing machine. I'm still learning the in's and out's of the machine (since the extend of my sewing knowledge came during 8th grade Home Ec class), but I have done a few projects already. This over-the-shoulder tote was my very first project:

Next I made this wine bottle gift bag:

The fabric isn't the prettiest, but it was my "play" fabric, and I was just excited that you could tell what things were supposed to be once I was finished! Here's hoping I continue to improve!

What in the WORLD?

So anyone who knows us knows that Oskar is basically the center of our world . . . he might be the most spoiled wiener dog on the planet. But even I thought that this was taking it a little too far:

Yep, Oskar is getting packages at the post office. I am not even kidding.

Let it SNOW!

It has been snowing ALL DAY here: road condition RED, school cancelled, and even PILOTS got sent home early. Who knew it snowed like this in Korea?

I pretty much had to "re-introduce" Oskar to snow, since it had been SO LONG since he'd seen it. It only snowed like this once the entire time we were in Germany, and he LOVED it. So I hoped just throwing him into it would trigger some memories.

At first, he just looked so pathetic, I almost took him inside. I mean, look at this snow mustache:

What do you do when the snow is as tall as your dog?

You just SNOW PLOW it!

Finally, I gave up and just took him to the park . . . and that's apparently all it took. As soon as I snapped the leash off, he was GONE, bounding off through the snow!

Can you spot an OKB in this picture?

Okay, Mom. I'm cold. Even my tags are frozen together. Can we go inside now?

Happy New Year!

So, my New Year's resolution was to start a blog and stay in better touch with everyone back at home. I've been following other people's blogs for awhile and always marveled at well they keep people up-dated about their lives over-seas. And, in typical Wright-fashion, I've been wanting to start my own but haven't. So here it FINALLY is. I'll still keep our photo share site so people can view our photos, but I promise I will be better at up-dating this site. . . okay, I promise I'll try. ;)

Until then, enjoy a few pics from our Christmas celebration here in Korea . . .
