Misc. Up-dates. . .

As you may have already heard, I have started working full-time again. I got a job at the Human Resources Office here on base. The work is not bad, and I feel very fortunate to have found SOMETHING since work is very hard to come by on overseas bases. HOWEVER. . . it has severely impacted my "doing nothing" time, which is why this blog has not been updated since the beginning of August. And, since both Jonathan and I have been doing pretty much nothing but WORK, WORK, WORK, I'll just share with you all some misc. pictures. Enjoy :)

I'm still trying to keep up with my hobbies, even though I have absolutely no time in which to do them. These two book covers came pretty much out of necessity. I've found, since I started working, that I'm always carrying around a book. That way, in case I have spare time (like on my lunch break), I can catch up on some reading. However, the books were getting scratched and torn apart by being in my bag all the time. SOOOOO. . . I sewed these simple fabric book covers to protect them. Cute, huh?

A lot of people have wondered how OKB is handling "Mommy" going back to work full-time. The answer is. . . . so-so. The first couple of weeks were rough; I know a lot of non-dog people say that dogs don't have emotions. . . but they don't know OKB. He was totally giving me the cold shoulder, refusing to snuggle with me and laying with Jonathan instead. However, he's gotten better the longer I've worked. But, if you thought he was attached to me BEFORE I started working, you should see him now. He does not leave my side the whole time I'm in the house. Here's a typical OKB pose while I'm on the couch. Simply lying next to me is not enough. . .

Monsoon season is in full-swing here in Korea, and it is pretty amazing. I've really never seen weather like this anywhere else that I've been. It's extremely humid (100%) ALL THE TIME and rains almost every single day. I don't mind rain at all, and its made for some pretty spectacular cloud formations. Once, we even got this beautiful sight: a double rainbow.

This is just Oskar being nosy. . . Jonathan brought home BK for a quick lunch one day, and Oskar was getting upset that he wasn't getting a bite of my cheeseburger. So he decided to take matters into his own hands and sneak some cheeseburger of his own. But once he stuck his head in the bag, he realized there was nothing in there. . . and then couldn't get out. He backed all around the living room floor trying to get out of this sack. I promise we only left him in there long enough to get a good laugh and take this picture. :)

That's all for now. Have a great weekend, everyone :)

  1. Haha, love those photos of Oskar, and love your book protectors! Did you add padding to them, or just fabric? I have been wanting to make a laptop case, but I haven't unpacked my sewing machine yet.

  2. Just fabric, no padding. . . but they do just fine protecting the corners, which is what gets the worst of the wear. I'd like to make a small one for my iTouch, but it will definitely need padding.
